A couple of the interesting Headlines I read are:
Is Facebook Using it's New Dating Service to Distract from its Data Disaster?
Facebook's dating service is a chance to meet the catfisher, advertiser or scammer of your dreams.
Facebook says that they will allow people to create a dating profile in a separate area from their main profile and it will be invisible from their Friends.
They will begin testing it in the next few months and they will use a Button to indicate whether "interested" or "pass".
The matches will show the person's first name, age and current city and photo. You will also have the option to expand it to include your work, education and other biographical information.
Facebook says that they won't use dating-service data for ad targeting in the beginning.
It has already impacted the stock in other dating service companies (Match Group - MTCH was down 19% and IAC/InterActiveCorp - IAC, which is the majority owner of Match, and was down 12% after the announcement.
Personally, I think I'll pass on using Facebook as a dating service. But with over 2 Billion users Facebook poses a serious threat to the industry.
