I am Blessed to give the keynote
speech to a group of Foster children at the Safety Harbor Sherriff’s Ranch.
This effort is designed to keep siblings together until adopted as a family.
Children are housed at the the Safety Harbor Youth Camp.
The event is speared headed by Fit4Truth Youth Outreach Organization. A group of ex Marines.
The Children, Marines, Officers
and volunteers will together paint a 100’ wall mural.
While there are many lessons and old dog like me can share
with kids, these 4 items are what I am focusing on.
Attitude-
John Wooden – Legendary UCLA coach told me as a youth, Attitude – a positive attitude will
take you higher than any learned skill.
·
Never let your circumstances get in the way of
your attitude.
·
Never let what you can’t do get in the way of
what you can do.
Courage-
Comes in many forms and show up in life in many ways. Most
importantly have the courage to do the right thing.
·
Any thing that has significance takes courage.
·
The courage to say no too something wrong when
you know is not right.
Decisions-
There are in many cases where there is no right or wrong answers
– just decisions! With those decisions
come consequences. People get rewarded for making good decisions and people get
penalized for making bad ones.
·
You will be tempted.
·
Everybody’s doing it.
·
No one will know.
·
I should have it now.
Gratitude-
·
There is no single greater gift you can give
yourself than being grateful for the good things in your life.
As my Father said- Be a Leader of Good vs a Follower
of Evil.
