Hi,
As
a woman leader, do you find the leadership roles you are expected to fill
uncomfortable or unnatural? Does the traditional “leadership model” feel too
assertive or aggressive — and it doesn’t seem to bring out the best in your
people?
You’re
not alone. I was in the first wave of women leaders in both the military and
business worlds where THE leadership model was male-centric, “command,”
patriarchal, and not always kind to women (one male Army officer would cross the
street rather than salute me, a fellow female officer).
I
struggled for many years to find a style of leadership that expressed my real
power as a leader — and a woman. It has become my life’s work to discover what
true leadership looks like and to train women in finding their own unique,
empowered, gender-free style.
Women
have received A LOT of mixed messages about how we are expected to behave as
leaders. And there has been a decided gap in up-to-date, tuned-in leadership
style training for us (and for men too, for that matter).
What’s
the missing link for women in leadership?
Women
have different natures than men and different natural gifts for leadership. We
have discovered that we can wear the traditional male style of leadership to
great effect. But what if we could be more than men – more adaptable, more
influential, more effective — by bringing in our natural style and gifts?
I
believe that as women leaders, we can wear different styles in different
contexts, and use those choices to drive results and make a difference!
“Now
I understand that my Leadership abilities are less about what I say and more
about what I DO – and I know how to plant the seeds that inspire people to WANT
to follow me. Linda taught me to be authentically ME, with the tools to
communicate in a different way that allows me to better navigate my business AND
personal life.” –Melissa B.
