I received 3 Demands for Ransom this week and they were all using my name and an old address I lived at 8 years ago in the subject line. There are so many data breaches that now we are starting to receive a variety of Demands for Ransom.
The first Ransom Demand I received was for a Wanna Cry Ransom that said all of my data would be wiped out if I didn't send the ransom by the deadline. I forwarded that email to my technical support team and they advised that a Wanna Cry Ransom doesn't work that way, it would have locked everything and demanded the ransom to unlock it. That this was just an email demand to see if I would respond and pay the ransom out of fear.
Then I received 2 more Ransom Demands that were similar indicating that they had pornographic videos that I had watched and video of me from my computer and if I didn't pay the ransom they would send it to all of my contacts and embarrass me. Since I have never watched any porn on my computer, I believe these are more email demands to see if I will respond and pay the ransom out of fear.
Well, I don't intend to pay the ransoms, so if you happen to receive a porn video that says it's from me, it isn't. I'm letting you know that I did not send it.
Beware of all the Ransom Demands!
To Success!
