A Dream Deferred Can Still Come True!

Today’s
newsletter is about the incredible comeback story and amazing music of 98.6!
Have
you ever had a dream that didn’t happen and put it away for another time and
place?
Have
you ever had a dream that was deferred by circumstances beyond your control? But
you vowed one day, "I will make it come true?"
If
your answer is yes, then you have to hear the incredible story of 98.6. They
were a group of prodigious teenagers in the1970’s, comprised of some of the best
and brightest musicians throughout the city of Washington, DC.
They
got together and started jamming. As a result of the incredible music they
created, people started asking them if they were going to become a group. After
hearing enough people repeatedly asking that question, they eventually joined
forces and formed the band
98.6.

Promoters
started hearing them and signed the group to do tours, opening for Marvin Gaye,
The Chi-lites, Sly and The Family Stone, New Birth and many more!
Eventually,
the band was approached by a hot new label named H&L Records, and they
signed a record deal. The 98.6 recorded an album that was being talked about as
the next “super album,” but they had a number of setbacks.
The
company went bankrupt right before the album was released. Then, one of the
record company owners died and the music became part of the fight for his
estate.
The
band's music was eventually put in a vault and ended up locked there for 40
years. 98.6 became frustrated and after a couple of years, went on with their
individual lives. Some went to college and others started businesses and
careers.
As
time went on, one of the members grew up to be a lawyer and found a small
section in the Copyright Act of 1976 that allowed the group to reclaim their
music! And now it's being touted by radio and media personalities as
“Amazing!”
