My Willie Jolley Wealthy Ways guest this week is American businesswoman and immigration attorney the (first Filipino woman to pass the New York State Bar without attending law school in the United States), Loida Lewis.

She is also a philanthropist and widow of TLC Beatrice International Holdings, Inc. founder and CEO Reginald Lewis. Additionally, Loida is the Chair and CEO of TLC Beatrice, LLC, a family investment firm.

She served as an informal adviser and confidant to her late husband Reginald Lewis. In 1987, he acquired Beatrice International in a $985 million leveraged buyout, creating the largest African-American-owned company in the United States.

After his passing from brain cancer in 1993, Loida served as CEO and Chair of TLC Beatrice International Holdings, Inc., the multinational food company her husband entrusted her with. She made strategic moves to maximize the profits of her late husband's company.

Loida also helped complete the biography of her late husband, Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun? How Reginald Lewis Created a Billion-Dollar Business Empire. The book was a global best-seller.

Loida Lewis’ newest book, Why Should Guys Have All the Fun? An Asian American Story of Love, Marriage, Motherhood and Running a Billion Dollar Empire, is the true story of firebrand immigration lawyer, activist, philanthropist, wife, mother and accomplished business executive. Its co-writer is Blair S. Walker, who helped finish the biography of her husband.

Loida also co-authored the best-selling book, How to Get a Green Card, with Ilona Bray, which is now in its 14th edition.
