It's been a while, so here are some quick updates! I'm honored to be a MALI Fellow this year, because I'm building community with other multi-cultural artists here in San Jose and improving my business practices. I also earned a scholarship with Youth Speaker University, which means I'll be making a greater impact at more schools and colleges. Do you like my new pic? Valentine Tips!
It's almost V Day and for me that means love will be in the air, women will be rising, and many people will be sharing compassionate words from the heart. Now that's my kind of day! If the latter makes you nervous because you get tongue tied, here are some tips:
1. Read a classic love poem by a famous poet that you admire.
2. Free-write for ten minutes about what feelings came up for you and how they relate to your love.
3. Circle the words and sentences that ring especially true, then rewrite the poem.
4. Type it up and send it as a love letter, or take the best lines and make a card!
Love Always, and remember you are Always.... Divine!

Venus will be a guest presenter at Montalvo Arts Center's 2018 Arts in Your Classroom conference!
Come learn how the arts can help build tangible connections and cultivate empathy in an increasingly disparate and divisive world. Specific workshop topics engage with questions relating to the dualities of self/other, teacher/student, school/community, art/academics, technology/analog, and more.
The 2018 keynote speaker will be Jeff Chang, Executive Director of the Institute for Diversity in the Arts at Stanford University and the author of the award-winning books Can't Stop Won't Stop: A History of the Hip-Hop Generation, Who We Be: A Cultural History of Race in Post-Civil Rights America, and We Gon' Be Alright: Notes on Race and Resegregation.
