Speaking
can change your life. Being on TV can change your life. Being on a
podcast can change your life. Take the step. Face the Fear.
Note:
Why in the world did I sing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”? It was
because when I was four-years-old and happily singing Jesus Loves Me,
some women told me to shut up because I couldn’t sing. I shut my mouth,
and this is the first time I ever sang again.
This is the transcript of my talk at Harvard Faculty Club.
Our
featured speaker is the creator of the Daily Success Media Network and
Blue Ocean Authority Publishing, including its popular Women Innovators
publishing division. She created the Florida Gulf Coast University’s
Social Media Certification Program, has appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, and
Fox TV, and has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Please welcome
Professor Tami Patzer.
[Tami Patzer begins speaking]
“Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder who you are.”
When
I was nine years old, I had a box in my hands. I stood at one end of
the street — the edge of town. I looked down to the other end of the
street, the other edge of town, and walked over to the post office.
“Here you go, Mr. Postman. How much do you want to insure it for, little lady?”
“A million dollars. It’s my mom’s novel, and it’s going to change our lives.”
I
took the box and pushed it over the postman’s counter. The next year,
and the year after that, and the year after that, I kept taking boxes to
the postman’s counter until 1985. My mom got an agent. She was going to
be published by a big New York Times publisher. But then, my mom passed
away.
I
really think that’s part of my big “why” because today, I help people
publish books. I have helped hundreds of people become international
best-selling authors. And today, here I am standing in the Harvard
Faculty Club among a roomful of international best-selling authors.
The big question that I get is, “Tami, what’s next? What is beyond the bestseller?”
I’m
here because I want to help each and every one of you take it beyond
the bestseller. Think about it — you’re here at Harvard, and the
Entrepreneurial Students Club of the Harvard Business School is
sponsoring the Business Experts Forum. We have been given the tools — we
have video, we’re international bestsellers.
So, how are you going to leverage it?
As
my gift to you, I want to interview you on my award-winning radio show,
The Thought Leaders Show. I want to help you position yourself as the
thought leader you are so you can use your impact, your influence, and
that celebrity status you’re creating today to help you go beyond the
bestseller.
By a show of hands, how many of you are ready to leverage your expert status? Great, because I’m going to help you do it.
I
want you to know that I’m here to help you. This is one thing that’s
really, really important — you have already proven who you are. You are a
celebrity. You are a star.
I’m Tami Patzer, and I’m here to help you take your expert authority status beyond the bestseller.
