During
the Month of November we Continued to Honor our Veterans
Here's
a deserving veteran and her story in her own words:
"I
joined the U. S. Army’s delayed entry program in 1980, signing up while still
enrolled in 11th grade classes in high school. I was allowed to leave for
service right after high school graduation. I attended Basic training at Ft.
Jackson, S.C. during the heat of the summer-- June, 1980. During Basic training,
I earned the Sharpshooter Medal. I was trained as an Administrative Assistant.
My
permanent duty station was at Ft. Hood, Texas where I served as a Legal Clerk in
the 312th Military Intelligence Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division.
The most
exciting time during my service was being picked up in helicopters after morning
PT and flown out to the middle of nowhere before the sunrise, provided with only
topographical maps and told to run back to Barracks “and don’t be late for
work!”
If I had
only one word to describe the reward, it would be “Resiliency”!
Congratulations
to LoriAnn!
