Hi,
I don't know about you, but most days I get so sick of my mind. It rambles on, keeps wanting to change directions, gets me all wound up about things that haven't even happened yet, and tells me all the time what I like / don't like / should / shouldn't do without having any great purpose except to distract me or prevent me from taking new leaps.
This is why as holistic individuals, we invest time in yoga, meditation, and relaxation. It's the great attempt to quiet the mind, find some semblance of peace, and get a sense of grounded direction. It sounds kind of simple, but in reality, it's not that easy.
If we aren't present in our decisions (both personal and business), and mindful about WHY we are doing what we are doing, then the untrained mind will take over. It will lead you to find ways to be busy versus be intentional in action because "hustling" means you are successful, right? Ugh.
One of the questions I try to ask myself when I am making choices about what I want to give attention to in my business is, "Who is driving my bus?" Is it my mind running the show? Telling me what looks good, sounds good, or appears successful? Encouraging me to please others to gain some kind of validation? Or is it my soul-self, my spirit, my authentic way of being (whatever you want to call it) that's in charge of this decision at this moment?
When we lead from a place of mindful presence, from our true essence, then we make better business decisions that often free up our time so we can enjoy more time with family, bird watching, playing tennis, or whatever it is that fills your cup.
Here at the HCC we do our best to provide you with quality opportunities to grow your business. Your mind might tell you that you are too busy to participate, aren't that great of a speaker so a Member Spotlight is out of the question, are too introverted for networking, or that something else is more important (maybe it is).
But I encourage you to think about who is driving your bus before writing off events or procrastinating on
becoming a member so that you can make a decision from the Self that truly knows the best path for you...even if scary.
