My Willie Jolley Wealthy Ways Sirius XM show guest
this week is the one and only Dr. Nido Qubein.
Dr. Nido Qubein is one of the wisest men I have
ever met. For many decades, he was known as one of the top professional speakers
and consultants for businesses in the world.
He’s a wealth creator who started a bank that was
bought by BB&T, which then merged with SunTrust to create Truist Bank.
Dr. Qubein has been on the board of all three banks
and is now the longest tenured board member for Truist. He’s also the owner of
many companies, including The Great Harvest Bread Company. In addition to
Truist, he sits on the boards of many well-known companies, including Lazy Boy
Furniture.
Twenty years ago, his alma mater, High Point
University in North Carolina, was in very bad shape and needed a great
transformation, if it was to survive. The Board asked him to become its
president and help save the school. He took on the task with the same vigor and
vitality he used to build his companies. He rebuilt High Point University. He
has transformed the small sleepy little college into one of the top universities
in America.
Dr. Qubein’s philosophy emphasizes values-driven
leadership, personal development, the power of positive thinking, resilience,
and strategic goal-setting.
Dr. Qubein has been inducted into the Horatio Alger
Association for Distinguished Americans, along with Oprah Winfrey and Colin
Powell; and is the recipient of the DAR Americanism Award, along with four U.S.
presidents.
Dr. Qubein’s new book is called Extraordinary
Transformation, an entrepreneurial blueprint for leaders who seek
transformational growth in any
organization.
