Everyone knows Beyoncé, but most people do not know who created Beyonce, both physically and materially.

It is her father, Mathew Knowles.

Mathew Knowles took Beyoncé to her many music lessons as a child. He knew his daughter had talent, but didn’t know what to do about it.

Beyoncé started a music group with two friends, and named the group, Destiny’s Child. Mathew hired a manager for the group, but the manager left them high and dry before an engagement. Mathew decided to step in–even though he knew nothing about the music business.

He became a student of the music business, mixing that information with what he knew as a corporate sales and marketing executive.

Knowles went on to make Destiny’s Child one of the biggest entertaining groups in the world; and then on to launch his daughter into her solo career. The rest is history.

In this very powerful interview for my Sirius XM Wealthy Ways Show, Mathew Knowles shares secrets to his success.

He says:

• It is critical to focus on "The Who, The What and The Why" of business!
  
  The WHO is about your customer. In order to win, you must know who your customer is and stay focused on them. Once you figure out who your customer is, you must constantly reach out to them!
  
  The WHAT is about the product and all about that product.
  
  And lastly, the WHY is about the reason a person will buy the product from you.
  
  
• Whatever you want to succeed at, you must be willing to learn. You need not know the details at the beginning, but those who are wiling to learn tend to have a better ending result.
  
  
• Branding is critical! It's about what differentiates you from the competition. Knowles decided to brand Beyonce as an entertainer, not a singer. His reasoning? Singers can be found in any choir.
  
  
• Think globally, not just locally. There is a big world in which to make money!
  
  
• Lose the ego! Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity!
  
  
• Do not let mistakes stop you. Use mistakes as opportunities to grow, not quit.
  
  
• Excellence should be the goal, not perfection. Perfection is the enemy of profitability. Flexibility and excellence are more important in creating ongoing profits.
  
  
• Keep learning, keep growing and keep trying! The potential for success is unlimited!
