Hi,
T.
Scott Gross is the author of the series, Positively Outrageous Service.
He’s
the expert Southwest Airlines called on when they were working to separate
themselves from their competition. Scott helped them create their fun and upbeat
customer service culture.
Scott
started at the bottom in hospitality and worked his way up, from washing dishes
at a restaurant and cleaning rooms at hotels to becoming a world-renowned
customer service expert and best-selling author.
He
is a Hall of Fame Speaker and a legend in the speaking industry, as well as a
high-end consultant. Plus, he serves in his local community as a city council
member and even served as the Mayor Pro Temp for his city!
His
Fortune 500 clients include not only Southwest airlines but Walmart, Ford
Motors, and many, many others.
Here
are 9 great lessons T. Scott Gross shares on how you can grow your business and
your life:
- Sign
your work by your excellence. Do your work with such a spirit of excellence that
you leave such an impact on your customers that they will talk about you
afterward.
- Competence
creates confidence, which holds fear at bay. Always function in competence and
confidence in order to win!
- A
“high-performance team” needs a compelling cause. Aim for something bigger than
yourself.
- Make
mediocrity your adversary. Every high-performance team has an enemy. During the
Super Bowl, there’s an enemy on the other side of the field, and they want to
win.
We need to make mediocrity our enemy! Refuse to go along with
mediocrity and pursue excellence every day.
- Work
your way out of your valley situations, by committing to keep getting back up
and keep getting it done, even if it is difficult.
- When
business is slow, go for the new business. Don’t wait for it to come to you!
Understand that there is always new business, it’s out there. Keep pushing!
- Build
your life and your marriage by making it important. Always hold hands. If you
always hold hands, you will always be married. Scott and his wife Buns have been
married almost 50 years.
- Don’t
live life halfway. Go all in. Live full and die empty.
- If
you’re not living life full-on, you are missing out on the best parts of life.
Why not go out on the edge? Isn’t that where the fruit is?
