It
was a special day at
Wheels of Success as we presented our 1200th car! Our car recipient, Pam Glover,
a
Patient Care Tech (PCT) at Tampa General Hospital, came to us through our Cars
for Caregivers program.
Coincidentally,
Cars for Caregivers started with funding from Tampa General Hospital in 2010,
making this presentation even more special. She also qualifies as part of our
Kinship Program since she has taken over the care of her two year old
grandchild.
Pam’s
transportation challenges began when she purchased a car from a buy here pay
here and after only one month of owning the car, it completely quit running. She
took the car back to the dealership where they refused to replace or repair the
vehicle, stating that the sale was “as-is.” Luckily Wheels had received a car
donation from the Anthony family, their third
car donated to us, that
was perfect for Pam, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with only 71,196 miles on
it.
And how
opportune that we had also received an unexpected grant from the #tampabaylightningfoundation which funded the repair of Pam’s
new-to-her vehicle. This brings our event and 20 year Anniversary full circle-
since our Founder and CEO, Susan Jacobs, was the 12th Lightning Hero on
12/12/2011, and used those funds to start the Wheels’ Build A Car
program.

simply … a key! |
