YouTube is making several changes to keep you engaged so you stay on their platform. Facebook has been trying to pull YouTube traffic away with their native videos and the Watch tab.
If you have a YouTube Channel with 10,000 or more subscribers, a Community tab will appear at the top of your channel. With the Community tab you will be able to post polls, photos, link to other videos as well as playlists, ask questions and interact with your community.
Other new features are they added Contacts (like having Friends on Facebook) to do text updates, have polls, and post photos. You are also able to send a video in a private conversation. You can create a Group and share videos with just them.
Most of YouTube's new features are only available on mobile devices at this time.
