Have you ever felt insignificant and wonder if you make a difference in this world? It’s amazing how many people spend hours, weeks, months, sometimes years studying subjects like trigonometry, algebra, the history of a past civilization. We invest our time in perfecting our hobbies or reading about an interesting topic. Spend days reading a book of fiction for our book club and when it is time to discuss the book, most members are more interested in gossiping or discussing the current news or weather.
What if we spent more time learning subjects that will assist us in perfecting/fine tuning our business or securing an advancement in our job. What do we all want in our lives? I would venture to say we all would like to be recognized for our achievements. Yet, when we do accomplish some form of success, we don’t share the news. Often, we do not even post it on our social media or website, send out a press release or news announcement. Why?
If you are like me and many others, you have been taught not to be a show-off or not to brag.
As a result, many people give up on dreams and don’t do what they really enjoy doing. They are miserable and say things
like, “Yay! It is Friday!”
Yet, we all want people to seek us as the go-to person, hire us, and/or purchase our products or services. We take so much
time creating our solutions, yet we are afraid to let the world know about how we can make their lives easier. Become the
person who has the information and the answers. Value your time. Valuate what you are reading, listening to, watching.
Then, ask yourself, “Is this the best use of my time?”
Consider making a list of your mastermind groups, memberships in professional organizations, affiliate partners, vendors
you work with, mentors, books you have read, charities you support, volunteer positions, physical activities, courses,
networks you participate in.
Like my colleague Derlene Hirtz, NLP Coach & Team Referral Network in St. Louis says, “Don’t listen to the Itty Bitty Shitty Committee!”
You will be amazed, as you examine your lists, as to how far you have come! NOW, make a plan to do what you love
and love what you do. Then, execute your plan, one step at a time. Before you know it, you will be living the life of
your dreams and making a huge impact and difference in this world!
