I am grateful that seven years ago my friend Patty Kitching introduced me to “The Work” We drove to High School in Sarasota to experience this woman sitting on stage on a big comfy coach. Her name was Byron Katie; most people just call her Katie. She had us fill out a questionnaire when we arrived. Then she would call on folks from the audience throughout the evening and ask them questions to discover what they really thought. It is amazing how her four questions can turnaround your world.
1. Is it true?
2. Can you absolutely know that it’s true?
3. How do you react when you believe that thought?
4. Who would you be without that thought?
In 1986 Katie’s life was transformed by these questions and ever since then she has traveled the world sharing how everyone can experience the power of inquiry.
She wrote “A Thousand Names for Joy: living in harmony with the way things are” with Stephen Mitchell, the renowned translator of the Tao Te Ching. They have taken selected provocative excerpts from this ancient text and Katie addresses issues on life and death, good and evil, love, work and fulfillment. This results in how to apply this wisdom to our lives today.
Thank you Katie for helping us wake up and know the true meaning of Joy! Consider reading Katie’s book or attending one of her workshops today.
