30-second commercial

Does your 30-second power pitch help you get your foot in the door? Too many people provide a laundry list of activities rather than a strategic approach to making it memorable. There are some simple Do's and Don'ts for your pitch.

Do

  • Stay conversational
  • Be personal
  • Demonstrate your passion for what you do
  • Be focused on no more than 3 points
  • Make it intriguing and interesting
  • Be enthusiastic
  • Keep it updated
  • Make it memorable

Don't

  • Memorize a "speech"
  • Ramble without focuus
  • Rush through it
  • Use jargon
  • Assume one "size" fits all situations
  • Be afraid to to pain a picture of what you do
  • Be too serious that you lose your personality
