How to Fly High In Business and Life
Hi,
Captain
William "T." Thompson, Esq. is the author of the powerful new book, The
Flight To Excellence.
He
chose this title for he literally has soared in life–both above the clouds in
flight and in business; doing both by focusing on excellence.
Captain
T. was the first African American from the state of South Carolina to attend the
Air Force Academy. His exceptional success while matriculating at the Air Force
Academy, was so impactful that he was asked to stay on as a recruiter. After a
year, Captain T. went to flight school. During his time there, he was so
excellent that he was asked to stay and become a full-time
instructor.
While
teaching, Captain T. decided to go to law school at night! He finished law
school and started practicing law. He got a call from Delta Airlines and was
recruited to become one of their pilots. While flying for Delta (a few days a
week), he practiced law on his off days!
He was soon given
an opportunity to participate in several business ventures with other
entrepreneurs. They started with the purchase of a strip mall. Later, he began
purchasing his own businesses, including a Subway sandwich and a Dunkin’ Donuts
franchise.
Captain
T. became a multi-millionaire. He then started speaking and teaching others how
to become wealthy as well!
During
my interview with Captain T. for my Sirius XM radio show, here are a few of the
lessons he shared about creating wealth:
- Use
Captain T.'s "P4 System" to create success: A.) Principles–you must use
character based precepts, B.) People–surround yourself with good people and
treat your people well, C.) Plan–get a flight plan so you will effectively
arrive at your desired goals, D.) Performance–always have a bias for
action.
- Do
all you do with a spirit of excellence.
- Do
your best each and every time you do what you do.
- Do
your best the first time so you won’t have to spend time doing it a second
time.
- One
of the most important keys to success is to Save
and Invest!
- It
is not about how much you make, but how much you keep!
- Learn
to live below your means and invest the difference.
- Always
do a little more than what others are doing. You will stand out!
- Excellence
is a choice. It doesn’t take special gifts or talents.
