YouTube wants to get TikTok Creators over to their look-alike version on "Shorts".
YouTube Shorts is expanding their beta users to the US and Madisen Dewey of YouTube explains the Shorts' Global Content Strategy:
"Shorts are actually any vertical video, 60 seconds or less in length, and you can upload Shorts by following the standard upload flow on mobile, desktop or your preferred device. We recommend that you use '#Shorts' in the title or description to help with discovery."
Dewey further states that the reason YouTube created Shorts is because:
"Every year we see an increasing number of people coming to YouTube looking to create, and we want to make it easier for them to do so."
I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that TikTok is giving them a run for their money.
The Shorts creation tools are being expanded and YouTube will be adding a 'Shorts shelf' in their channels to make it easier for users. You can also subscribe to the Shorts Report which is sent out bi-weekly for all the latest info.
TikTok has become a major competitor for several social platforms and they are all trying to come up with their version to keep you engaged.
To Success!
