Life Skills education in our community.

WE CORDIALLY INVITE YOUR
PARTICIPATION!

Global Presence Leadership Forum is proud to be one of multiple events organized by Global
Presence Ambassadors in cities around the globe as part of Parenting 2.0’s P20 Talks 2015 regional
gatherings and Thrive
Thursday celebrations.
Who taught you life skills?
“Parents have traditionally
served as the primary educators of Life Skills,” states Board President
Marlaine Cover. “Given the complexity of Life Skills in the twenty-first
century, it is vital we adopt a more dynamic curriculum. Media headlines
provide a painfully real report card daily for our adherence to an antiquated
Life Skills educational process.“

Life Skills, as defined by Parenting
2.0, are “Mandatory skills human beings learn
to thrive and commune with others.” They include but are
not limited to interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, safety and
finance – skills traditionally taught by parents.
Twentieth-century increases in dual
parent full-time employment, single parent households and expanded geographic
separations from extended family members have all placed unprecedented
stressors on an already impoverished Life Skills educational process. Media
headlines – bullying, divorce, obesity, bankruptcy etc. – provide painfully
real report cards daily for our adherence to an outmoded paradigm for human
development in the twenty-first century.
The biggest impediment to
substantive social change is the paradigm that parents will teach children Life
Skills. This assures low competencies are passed from generation to generation,
and communicates a low appreciation for the complexity of Life Skills in the
twenty-first century. The Leadership Forums are intimate gatherings that
provide front line professionals an opportunity to think outside the box, and
advocate a more dynamic educational process. Ideas generated will be shared in
cities worldwide.
The Global Presence Leadership
Forums are part of Parenting 2.0’s P20 Talks 2015 regional
gatherings and annual Thrive Thursday
celebrations.
In 2012, Parenting 2.0 members made
history by gathering professionals across multiple disciplines and continents
for P20 Talks. P20 Talks was the first professional conference to
recognize Life Skills as distinct, critical skill sets teachable by third party
educators. Panel discussions followed individual presentations on such
hot topics as digital safety, financial literacy, and interpersonal
communications.
