Do you feel invisible? Here's what to do about it (Part 2)

This is the day to let your frustrations out, and if you aren't frustrated to count your blessings. And right now, I have both, so I'm starting early! My computer crashed a week ago Friday, and it's been one of the most frustrating weeks for me in a long time.

My computer was 6 years old and not dead, but not worth putting more money into, so we got a new one. Unfortunately, we were talked into one that was not powerful enough for my needs, so after getting it all setup, we had to take it back and get a different one. FYI: if you get an iMac, and you can afford it, get the one with the fusion drive-it will last longer.

Once we got the new one, we had to set it up, and we got some bad Applecare technicians.We had a hard drive with the data from our last computer, plus what I had done on the new computer, plus another older hard drive. And trying to get everything where I can access it and all the confusion from different technicians was and is a real mastery-not done yet. And then, there is the confusion of what is on the local computer, what's in the iCloud and what's on the hard drive. It was enough to make me want to hide under the covers!

Plus, it happened in the middle of my launch for my 3 Days to eBook Cash Authoring Workshop.
In fourteen years in business, I have never have that happen. Now I have to create a new launch plan, so I need a bit more time on this.

The blessing is that I could get the new computer when I needed it. This is big, because there was a time when I would not have been able to. I used to have perfect credit, and then the recession hit, we lost our house, then huge medical bills and everything went south. Eventually we had to go bankrupt and our credit was ruined. But, we clawed our way out and it's much better now. Not perfect yet, but much better. So, it's truly a blessing.

In my experience, the best way to deal with an overwhelming situation like this is to stay in the now as much as possible. Tackle each bite size piece at a time and have faith that it will work out. And never give up. And believe me, I can't count the number of times I have wanted to give up over the years, but I never have. When I get in that space, I always ask myself, " What would I do if I didn't do this?" And the answer is always the same-"There's nothing else I want to do."

But, what I have done when I have felt that way is see if there is an adjustment I need to make to be happier, and I have made adjustments based on that many times.

So, if you're frustrated, let it out, learn from it and move on. If you're feeling blessed, enjoy it. As an entrepreneur, you'll always have both at one time or another. It's all part of the journey!

It's much easier to dominate when you are so different that you are the only choice for people who want what you do.

And once people realize how different you are, they will want to interview YOU and work with YOU and nobody else!

So, you'll want to write a book that lays out what is different about you, your system, or both, creates buzz, and give your readers the chance to see your uniqueness!

Unfortunately, too many authors don't think this way. Instead, they look at a niche and think that it's oversaturated, and they believe that they are too late to the party. But, nothing could be further from the truth! If you understand what makes you and your approach different, you will never have to worry about being invisible or about the other books in your niche. With a new angle, no niche is ever saturated!

To understand what I'm saying lets look at weight-loss. So many weight-loss books become bestsellers... why? Because in the United States, we are a country of overweight people, for the most part, and people want to lose weight, but, not every diet works for every person and some people buy every new diet book that comes out and never lose weight! That’s why so many are best- sellers. Here are just a few to give you an idea of how many different angles there are on a single subject-in this case, weight-loss:

• Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution

• The South Beach Diet, The Delicious Doctor-Designed, Fool-proof Plan for Fast and Healthy Weight-loss

 The Acid-Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health, Restore your Health by Creating PH Balance in your Body

• Enter The Zone, A Dietary Roadmap

• Skinny Bitch, A No-Nonsense, Tough Love Guide for Savvy Girls Who Want To Stop Eating Crap and Start Looking Fabul

• Eat to Live, The Amazing Nutrient-rich Program for Fast and Sustained Weight-loss

When you are different, you own your category. That means by definition, you are first in that category. When the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution came out it was, well, revolutionary-the first in it's category and that's why it stood out and did so well. It was a new and different approach that worked for many people.

But, there are other ways to stand out too. For instance, if you look at the list above, some books appeal to wanting to be healthy, others appeal to rapid weight loss and some appeal to both. And then, there is Skinny Bitch, which focuses on how the reader will LOOK if they follow the diet. It's no accident that this book, released in 2005, was an Amazon bestseller for years and still sells books daily because their audience cares more about how they look than about being healthy. This book sells attitude and being part of the in crowd. And it works!

In addition, if you look at the titles above, you'll also see some of the other guiding principles of bestseller title writing in action. Short memorable titles always work. Skinny Bitch, Eat to Live, Enter the Zone for example.

And using buzz words enhance titles such as: "Fool-proof", "Amazing", "Delicious", "Doctor-Designed" (for expertise), Savvy Girls.

So, don't be lazy! There are a lot of authors out there who have good or great material to share, but they don't take the time to understand what makes them and their book ideas different, so they never get the visibility they deserve and their books fizzle.

The truth is that you can have a bestseller in any niche! You just have to put some time and thought into how to approach your topic based on your passion, skill, and expertise, get creative with your title (and cover) and figure out what angle you can use to make it different from what is already on the market. Then, write it!
