Do You Meditate Momentarily or Stop Everything?

Upon hearing stories about the unforeseen hitting hard, the question arises, ‘Do you meditate momentarily or stop everything?’ Many people freeze in their tracks when new strategies turnout to be disastrous.  Worse is when they stop everything to then give up and quit being in business.  Quitting solves nothing, but the effort to meditate momentarily can improve future outcomes.

 

Should meditation not quite appeal to you, consider a creative project or enjoying nature on a sunny day.  Another option is turn on the music and listen carefully to the words sung that you particularly enjoy.  Figure out what the attraction is and if there is any association with improving your effort. 

 

For example, ‘Listen to the Music,’ ‘Sail Away with Me,’ ‘Don’t think Twice,’ all caught my attention and the lyrics still come to mind on occasion.  The songs convey stories that capture my interest and I pay attention to the messaging. More often than not, I find a connection to business.

 

Sail Away with Me: My company name is Smooth Sale and it’s about building genuine relationships over the long-term for ongoing service and business growth.

 

Don’t Think Twice lyrics: Yes, we need to weigh pros and cons of why something will or will not work, but should it not work out as we expect, it’s foolish to waste time beating ourselves up for the mishap.  We need to reset goals to move forward.

 

Listen to the Music:  We each enjoy a different type; however, we can each learn something from the words sung and apply to our unique approach to business.

 

Growing a business is no easy task for any style, type, or person; there is always something new to learn and old to revise. Many, including me, spend much time pondering what we could have done better, improve tomorrow, and the ‘magic strategy’ for catapulting today’s status.  

 

Our wasting time compounds when a business partner, employee, or client creates difficulties we did not see coming. Initial inquiries as to why the issues are now arising and seeking to negotiate a reasonable solution are generally the better strategy, but it doesn’t always work out well.

 

It’s easy to continue agonizing over the circumstances, but that solves nothing. Instead, it continues wasting our valuable time. When we think twice plus much more, it can be a sync hole for closing shop. Worse, the interest we may pay on wasting additional time can put an entity out of business. It’s a poor habit to continually mull over what went wrong while wasting valuable time.  It’s best to acknowledge the fact, figure out a better route, set new goals and tasks, and then ‘go for it.’ Once we address the problem, we do best to embrace the policy, ‘don’t look back, it’s alright’ until we achieve what we originally intended. Then it is helpful to take a moment to reflect on the awful experience and smile to realize how far we have come. At this point, it benefits us to recognize the lessons we learned along our path and how we adapted to enjoy where we are today.

 

It’s easy to occasionally get lost in time upon losing a long-term client, a serious disagreement with partners, or a sign that management needs an overhaul.  Instead, take the time to consider whether you admittedly wasted valuable time and the reasoning behind it:

 

It’s possible to minimize the related issues by revisiting your vision daily. Each morning, think about the good that recently occurred and how you may expand upon it. Ensure your vision and passion coincide and that you are working effortlessly in this regard. 

 

Break your grand vision up into stages, milestones, and goals to increase the possibility of achieving it. Place smaller goals underneath so that you remain on track and have a checklist to note when each is complete. Upon arriving closer to completing a larger purpose, re-set it for an even grander one.

 

Collaborate with peers who complement your effort; doing so has many benefits. You are in a position to learn from those whose work can extend yours. Introductions back and forth lead to increased audience size and the branding effort. Accordingly, client attraction grows, as will business possibilities. 

 

In summary, the better step is to think twice and stop briefly, but within a time limit, and then get a move on to continue what matters most to you. The underlying benefit to the process we suggest is it will keep you motivated to continue moving forward.

  1. Give yourself a deadline for re-examining an event and putting new steps in place to overcome.
  2. Reflection helps but with a nod toward what may be in store and the motivation to proceed.
  3. Highlight what needs your attention for the next day before you retire for the evening.
  4. Upon beginning each morning, review your list from the night before.
  5. Prioritize the annoying tasks and efficiently complete them to turn attention to the looming projects.
  6. Collaborate with people who complement your work and think similarly about their purpose.
  7. Create new collaborative projects for building a more robust brand.
  8. Ensure an open environment where people are welcome to share their unique ideas.
  9. Team diversity and inclusion are essential for a wider-ranging effort and additional business.
  10. Celebrate Success!
