You might ask, what is the difference between marketing and
sales? Most people think they are the
same thing, but they are two completely separate animals. Instead of looking at marketing and sales
alone, let’s look at the whole buying process which starts out with
advertising. Advertising is all about
building awareness of a product, peaking people’s interest if you will to get
them to take a closer look. After
interest has been created we then move to marketing which is determining the
needs of a prospective client. Finally
we come to sales, which is sealing the deal in the buying process and putting
that beloved dollar in your pocket.
Another way to look at marketing is developing a
relationship with a client. When you
establish a relationship with the prospective client you are able to determine
what their needs are and make them feel comfortable when the time comes for
them to buy. Now that you know the needs
of the client you are able to present what you have available to meet those
needs. As I already briefly mentioned
sales is doing what it takes to close the deal and get the money, or getting
the client to buy your stuff.
Having this basic understanding of the buying process is
essential to being a good advertiser, marketer, or salesman. Chances are your wearing all of these
hats. Knowing what you’re doing in each
area is very important. However, in
order to know what you’re doing in you have to know the flow and how they all
operate together. I can’t wait to give
you more empowering knowledge.
